Ecological Consultancy Services
At AE Ecology, we carry out ecology surveys to support your planning application. We offer cost-effective and pragmatic solutions to ensure your development meets national and local policy requirements for biodiversity.
We can undertake a full range of surveys starting from the initial Preliminary Ecological Appraisal (PEA) (sometimes called an Extended Phase 1). If necessary we follow this up with a targeted range of species-specific (Phase 2) surveys - such as a bat survey, or surveys for great crested newts or badgers
Our ecological surveys are carried out to established industry standards, by suitably licenced ecologists.
We have years of experience working with and for Local Planning Authorities so your reports will be tailored to ensure they can easily understand what is being presented, showing how your development complies with policy and leaving you free to deal with all the other elements of your planning application.
We are based in West Berkshire, so are very well placed to cover a wide area, including Reading, Newbury and Hungerford, and further along the Thames Valley and M4 corridor. South Oxfordshire, Wiltshire and North Hampshire are also within easy reach of our base - although we are happy to travel further afield!
*** Winter update ***
Some wildlife surveys can only be done at certain times of the year. If you have been asked by your local Council to provide a bat survey to support your planning application, we are able to do a visual survey of your site (sometimes called a Preliminary Roost Assessment, or a Phase 1 survey). But, if this finds that further surveys are needed (dusk / dawn surveys, sometimes called Phase 2 surveys) then these can only be started between May and August. Please do contact us for more information on this, and check out our main bat page for more info.
